In a bid to foster peace and harmony in the Sawla Tuna Kalba district, NorthCode Ghana, a non-governmental organization, is urging the youth to embrace cultural diversity.
The initiative, supported by the STAR-GHANA Foundation, aims to bridge the cultural gap and promote peaceful coexistence among the district’s diverse ethnic and social groups.
The project was born out of security threats from ethnic, inter-tribal, farmer, and herder conflicts. To address these challenges, NorthCode Ghana is organizing a unique training program for the youth, focusing on cultural dance, music, and poetry.
Through this program, the youth are being empowered to appreciate and value each other’s cultures.
The project promotes cultural exchange and understanding among the youth, fostering a peaceful environment necessary for development.
The initiative equips the youth with the skills and knowledge needed to promote cultural diversity and understanding.
The project advocates for peaceful coexistence, enabling the district to harness its human and natural resources for development.
“Embracing cultural diversity is key to fostering a peaceful environment necessary for development,” Mr. Luke Pampogye, Board Member of NorthCode Ghana and Lead for the project stated.
“Let’s promote peaceful coexistence to harness the human and natural resources of the district for development,” Sub-Chief Adisah Mahama advocated.
The Sawla Tuna Kalba district, located in the Savannah Region, shares boundaries with Ghana’s neighboring countries, Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.
The district is home to many ethnic and social groups, including the Vagla people, who have a rich cultural heritage and traditional chieftaincy system.
