The Obaapa Foundation has organized an initiative to educate and engage girl child students on menstrual hygiene.
The program which was held at the premises of Sabin Akrofrom Palace was aimed to promote awareness, confidence, and good practices among young girls, ensuring they can manage their menstrual health effectively.
The engagement brought together schools from the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal including SHS and JHS respectively.
The foundation provided comprehensive information on menstrual hygiene, debunking myths and promoting healthy practices.
Speaking to news men, the Executive Director of the foundation and Nkosuohemaa of the Afigya Kwabre Traditional Council, Obaapa Adwoa Nkyeraa popularly Known as “Nana Adwoa Awendor emphasized on stigma attached to menstruation and entreated the society to desist from that.
The girl child students participated in interactive sessions, sharing their experiences and learning from one another.
The foundation distributed sanitary products, ensuring that the girls have access to essential resources for managing their menstrual health.
“Empowering girl child students with knowledge and resources on menstrual hygiene is crucial for their health, confidence, and education,” Nana Adwoa Awendor added.
On his part, Nana Osei Kofi, the chief of Sabin Akrofrom advised Ghanaians especially boys who take advantage of vulnerable girls in the society with the aim of supporting them with pads to take care of the menstrual hygiene and also advised the girl child to be vigilant.
