Ghana’s Educators Embrace AI and EdTech to Transform Classrooms

A transformative workshop has been organized to empower teachers and school leaders to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Tools into classroom teaching.

The workshop which was organized by Brilliant Education Consultant in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) brought together teachers and school leaders in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region.

The workshop aims to enhance learning, foster skills acquisition, and improve educational outcomes.

The workshop highlighted on educators learning how to use AI platforms for content creation, interactive learning, assessment, and learner engagement.

The training focused on using digital tools to demystify difficult concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

Participants explored new instructional materials and assessment models designed to promote critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving among learners.

Speaking to the media, Mr. John Akwasi Amponsah, the lead facilitator of the workshop stated, “it’s time we empower our teachers with 21st-century skills to prepare our learners for the digital future. We cannot afford to stick to chalk and talk,” he added.

“This training has opened our eyes to what is possible with technology in the classroom. I now feel more confident in using AI tools to make my lessons engaging and relevant,” Miss. Evelyn Boadu, a Science teacher stated.

Another participant, Mr. Francis Osei, a headteacher from the Kumasi Metro, said the initiative has equipped them with new ways to support both teaching and administrative duties. “Beyond the classroom, we can use digital tools to enhance school management and track learner performance effectively,” he added.

The workshop is part of a broader campaign to integrate AI and technology into Ghana’s education system.

According to organizers, plans are underway to roll out similar training in other districts and regions across the country.

They believe that by empowering educators to lead the charge, Ghana is taking decisive steps toward building an empowered generation equipped to thrive in a digital world.
