Old Tafo MCE Engages Residents Ahead of Upcoming Decongestion Exercise

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Old Tafo Municipality in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Abubarkar, has engaged residents as part of the assembly’s preparations ahead of its decongestion exercise.

The engagement which was conducted today, January 13,2026 was accompanied by the Municipal Engineer security personnel and other executives of the assembly.

The exercise, scheduled for next week, is aimed at improving traffic flow, enhancing public safety, and ensuring orderly urban management within the municipality.

The MCE’s engagement targeted residents, traders, and other stakeholders, providing clear information on the scope and objectives of the decongestion exercise. All affected persons were formally advised to remove any unauthorized structures, wares, or items occupying public spaces before the scheduled date to avoid inconvenience.

The Municipal Assembly emphasized that the exercise is part of a broader strategy to maintain public order, reduce congestion, and create safe and accessible spaces for residents and businesses alike. Officials assured the public that legitimate businesses would be minimally affected, while all encroachments on streets, sidewalks, and other public areas would be cleared professionally and in accordance with municipal regulations.

Residents and traders are encouraged to cooperate fully with the Assembly’s directives to ensure a smooth and efficient exercise. The MCE reiterated that compliance is critical to achieving the municipality’s vision of a safer, more orderly, and well-managed urban environment.

The Assembly has further assured the public that all efforts will be made to conduct the exercise with minimal disruption while prioritizing the welfare of residents and traders in the affected areas.
