
A man believed to be in his 50s has lost his life in a fatal road accident involving a speeding motorbike at Nakisa, a suburb of Abuakwa in the Ashanti Region.
The deceased is reported to have been a security officer at St. Anthony International School, located in the community where the incident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened around 6:00 p.m. on the eve of Friday, June 19, 2026 when the victim was crossing the road from the school’s junction to the opposite side.
Witnesses said the man was knocked down by a speeding motorcycle while attempting to cross the road. They further alleged that a commercial passenger vehicle, popularly known as a trotro and operating as a transport (TD) vehicle, subsequently ran over the victim after the initial impact.
The trotro is said to have dragged the victim from the point where the motorcycle struck him under a mango tree by the roadside to the school’s junction, causing severe injuries that resulted in his death.
The incident drew a crowd of shocked residents and motorists who rushed to the scene.
As of the time of filing this report, police officers had conveyed the body to a morgue and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Authorities are expected to determine the exact cause of the crash and whether any arrests will be made as investigations continue.
