The Presidency, through the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), in partnership with the Jaksally Development Organization, has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to nine shea processing groups in Gbeniyiri as part of activities marking the 2025 Shea Expo.

The initiative is aimed at supporting women shea pickers, processors and farmers who are rebuilding their livelihoods following the conflict that displaced many residents and disrupted economic activities in the community.
In all, 207 beneficiaries comprising 159 women and 48 men received the PPEs to improve safety and productivity within the shea value chain.

Speaking at the presentation, the Executive Director of Jaksally Development Organization, Mr. Jeremiah Seidu, assured beneficiaries that their savings and investments accumulated through the Village Savings and Loans (VSL) scheme before the conflict remain secure.

Beyond the PPE donation, Jaksally Development Organization, with support from its partners and friends, also distributed clothing to vulnerable residents to help ease the burden on households still recovering from the effects of the conflict.

Many beneficiaries described the intervention as timely, expressing optimism that it would enable them to restore their businesses and improve household incomes.

The President of the Birifor Youth Association in the Savannah Region, Mr. Jacob Sunkari, commended the Presidency, GEPA and Jaksally Development Organization for the gesture.

He appealed for sustained support in the form of processing equipment, skills training and improved market access to help strengthen the shea industry in Gbeniyiri.

Community leaders also expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting that the support would enhance safety standards, increase production and contribute to the growth of Ghana’s non-traditional export sector through the shea industry.
