The Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union (GNPTDU) has called off its sit-down strike following an engagement with BOST Energies Limited to address concerns raised by the union.
The sit-down strike, which began yesterday, August 17, 2026, was suspended after the two sides reached an agreement on measures to resolve some of the outstanding challenges.
According to an outcome document signed by representatives of BOST Energies and the GNPTDU, the union executives in Kumasi are to coordinate and immediately undertake the resurfacing of the AG car park in Kumasi.
BOST has also dispatched a contractor to Kumasi to attend to the hanging loading arm, while the parties have agreed to engage the National Petroleum Authority in September 2026 over the meter-to-meter error margin and report on the outcome.
The document further indicates that a contract for the construction of a new car park in Kumasi has been awarded, with updates to be provided in due course.
The agreement was signed by officials of BOST Energies and the national leadership of the GNPTDU following their engagement on August 17.
The development has subsequently paved the way for the tanker drivers to call off the industrial action.
