The Savannah Farmers Brigade (SFB) has received 5,000 bags of NPK and Urea fertilizer from the Minister for Food and Agriculture to support smallholder farmers under the Government’s Feed Ghana Programme.
The donation will benefit more than 2,000 farmers cultivating maize and soybeans across six regions: Savannah, Northern, North East, Upper West, Upper East, and Bono.
Founder and Life Patron of the Savannah Farmers Brigade, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor III, expressed appreciation to the Minister for the timely intervention, describing it as a significant boost to food production and efforts to strengthen food security in northern Ghana.
He assured the Ministry that the fertilizer would be distributed transparently and fairly to ensure it reaches the intended beneficiaries and contributes to increased grain production across the Savannah Ecological Zone.
Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor III further stated that the Brigade would closely monitor the use of the fertilizer to ensure the inputs are used for their intended purpose. He stressed that the productivity of beneficiaries’ farms would serve as evidence of the effective utilization of the support.
He noted that the partnership between the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Savannah Farmers Brigade marks a significant step towards achieving sustainable food self-sufficiency in Ghana.
Meanwhile, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor III announced that the official inauguration of the Savannah Farmers Brigade has been postponed from the current farming season to November 2026.
