A flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has urged delegates participating in the party’s upcoming primaries to give serious consideration to an aspirant who has the stamina, visibility and commitment to campaign across the entire country ahead of the 2028 general elections.

According to him, the next flagbearer of the party must be someone who can effectively travel the length and breadth of Ghana to engage grassroots supporters, traditional leaders, youth groups and floating voters in every region.

Bryan noted that nationwide campaigning has become increasingly important in modern Ghanaian politics, stressing that the NPP’s chances of retaining power will largely depend on the party’s ability to connect with voters beyond its traditional strongholds.

He explained that delegates should look beyond popularity within limited circles and assess aspirants based on their physical energy, accessibility and willingness to undertake extensive nationwide tours.

“The party needs a candidate who can crisscross the country, listen to the concerns of ordinary Ghanaians and sell the NPP’s message effectively in every corner of Ghana,” he said.

Bryan further encouraged party delegates to prioritize unity and electability in their decision-making, emphasizing that the primaries should strengthen rather than divide the party.

The NPP is expected to hold its presidential primaries on January 31,2026 as part of preparations toward the 2028 general elections, with several high-profile party members expressing interest in leading the party.
