The Chief Executive Officer of Quality Steps Community School at Feyiase in the Bosomtwe District, Mrs. Mariam MacLean, has called on private school proprietors across the country to approach education as a mission rather than purely a business venture.

According to Mrs. MacLean, the responsibility of educating children goes beyond financial gain and should be seen as a national duty in which private schools play a crucial role. She emphasized that private educational institutions are important partners in national development and must therefore prioritize the intellectual and moral development of children.

She made these remarks during the 5th anniversary celebration of Quality Steps Community School, held at the school’s premises in Feyiase.
The event brought together parents, teachers, students, community leaders, and other stakeholders in the education sector to commemorate the school’s progress and achievements over the past five years.

Mrs. MacLean stressed that while private schools operate independently, their ultimate goal should be to nurture responsible, knowledgeable, and disciplined future leaders. She urged fellow private school owners to place greater emphasis on character formation, quality teaching, and holistic development rather than focusing solely on profitability.
“Education is a calling,” she noted. “When we see it as a mission first, the benefits will naturally follow. Our priority must always be to equip children with knowledge, values, and the confidence they need to contribute meaningfully to society.”

She further encouraged proprietors to invest in adequate teaching and learning materials, improved infrastructure, and the continuous professional development of teachers. According to her, providing the necessary logistics and resources for both educators and students is key to enhancing effective teaching and learning.
Mrs. MacLean also highlighted the importance of collaboration among private school owners, teachers, parents, and communities to strengthen the quality of education delivered in private institutions.

The anniversary celebration featured cultural performances by students, presentations on the school’s journey since its establishment, and recognition of teachers and staff who have contributed to the institution’s growth.
Over the past five years, Quality Steps Community School has built a reputation within the Feyiase community for its commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and the moral upbringing of its students.

Mrs. MacLean reaffirmed the school’s commitment to continue providing quality education while nurturing the next generation to become responsible citizens who will positively impact their communities and the nation at large.
