A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency, Lawyer Barima Sarpong, has called on all aspirants, delegates and party supporters to uphold peace, unity and mutual respect as the constituency prepares for its executive elections on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
In a statement issued on Friday, Lawyer Sarpong commended all aspirants for offering themselves to serve the party, describing their decision as a demonstration of courage, dedication and patriotism.
He noted that the elections should not be viewed as a contest between individuals but rather as an opportunity to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and reaffirm its commitment to the ideals and values of the New Patriotic Party.
Calls for Peace, Unity and Respect
Lawyer Sarpong outlined three key appeals to party members ahead of the polls.
First, he urged all stakeholders to ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful, free, fair and transparent manner, while respecting the authority of the Elections Committee and the will of delegates.
Secondly, he called for unity and reconciliation after the elections, stressing that there should be no room for bitterness, divisions or factionalism. According to him, the collective objective must be to reposition the party for victory in the 2028 General Elections.
He also appealed to party members to maintain respect and decency throughout the electoral process by avoiding insults, misinformation and personal attacks. Instead, he encouraged them to focus on issues, ideas and solutions that will advance the party’s progress.
Leadership Is Service
Lawyer Sarpong further encouraged all aspirants to remain committed to the NPP regardless of the election outcome.
“Leadership is not defined solely by elected office but by one’s willingness to serve. Whether victorious or otherwise, your contribution to the growth and development of Afigya Sekyere East remains invaluable,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that through unity, hard work and a shared sense of purpose, the NPP in Afigya Sekyere East would continue to serve as a shining example within the Ashanti Region and across the country.
The statement concluded with prayers for peaceful elections and God’s continued blessings upon the New Patriotic Party, the people of Afigya Sekyere East and Ghana.
The NPP’s nationwide Constituency Executive Elections are expected to elect new constituency executives to lead the party’s grassroots structures as it prepares for the 2028 General Elections.
