The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene has called for an end to vandalism, mob action and other forms of indiscipline among students in schools across the region.
He said such acts undermine the progress of educational institutions and create an unsafe environment for teaching and learning.

The Minister made the call at the launch of the 70th anniversary celebration of Kumasi Academy (KUMACA), where he urged students to uphold discipline, respect authority and develop positive attitudes that would shape them into responsible members of society.
He stressed the importance of character formation in the development of young people, noting that academic excellence alone is not enough to prepare students for the challenges of life. He encouraged students to cultivate values such as respect, honesty, responsibility, tolerance and self-discipline.
Dr. Frank also urged teachers to see themselves not only as educators but also as role models, whose conduct and guidance can have a lasting impact on the character of students. He called on them to pay greater attention to the moral development of their students and help nurture responsible future leaders.

He further appealed to parents to complement the efforts of teachers and school authorities by providing proper guidance and discipline at home. According to him, character formation is a shared responsibility and should not be left entirely to schools.
Mr. Amoakohene also advised students to channel their grievances through the appropriate authorities rather than resorting to violence, vandalism or mob action.

The launch brought together past and present students, teachers, parents, traditional leaders and other stakeholders to officially commence activities marking seven decades of Kumasi Academy’s contribution to education and national development.
