Crisis Rocks Asante Akyem Agogo North Over MCE Nomination

Tensions have flared in the Asante Akyem Agogo North Constituency following the third confirmation of MCE nominee Sarah Amoakoaa.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives in the area have expressed strong opposition to her nomination, citing concerns over her perceived partisan affiliations. The executives are unhappy about Sarah Amoakoaa’s husband being the NPP parliamentary candidate for the constituency and her endorsement by some NPP leaders.

The party claims they don’t know her and don’t want her as their MCE, raising questions about her suitability for the role.

The group has urged Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister to intervene in the matter and address their concerns.

The party’s regional leadership is also expected to play a role in resolving the crisis.

Speaking in a press conference, Dawuda Wellington, Deputy Youth Organizer of the party for the constituency indicated that if their demands are not met, they will boycott the 2028 elections, adding a layer of complexity to the already tense situation.

The nomination of Sarah Amoakoaa has sparked a heated debate, highlighting the challenges of partisan politics in local governance.
