President John Dramani Mahama has dissolved the boards of nine state institutions with immediate effect as part of a move to reconstitu their governing structures.
The decision, contained in a statement issued by the Presidency on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, affects key institutions operating in the energy, petroleum, finance, transport, housing, sports and public services sectors.
The institutions whose Boards have been dissolved are:
- Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited
- Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST)
- Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO)
- Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG)
- Ghana Post Company Limited
- Road Maintenance Trust Fund
- TDC Ghana Limited
- Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC)
- National Sports Authority
According to the Presidency, the relevant sector Ministers have been directed to take all necessary steps, in accordance with applicable laws and governing instruments, to give effect to the dissolution of the affected Boards.
The statement indicates that the dissolution takes immediate effect, although the institutions themselves will continue to operate under the appropriate administrative and legal arrangements.
The Presidency further announced that new Boards will be constituted for the affected institutions in due course.
