The Municipal Chief Executive for Atwima Nwabiagya South in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah, has initiated efforts to reshape a 150km stretch of the Abuakwa road, which was previously under construction. The project stalled due to compensation issues during the Nana led New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) administration.

The recent rains have severely deteriorated the road’s condition, making it impassable in some areas. To address this, the MCE mobilized resources and deployed graders to reshape the road, utilizing about ten trips of gravel to make it temporarily accessible.

Speaking to newsmen, Hon. Boamah appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene and direct the contractor to resume work on the project. Despite efforts to facilitate progress, the MCE believes that official intervention is necessary to ensure the project’s completion.

The Abuakwa road is a critical link between the Ashanti Region and other regions, making it a vital transportation artery. Its completion would significantly ease traffic congestion and facilitate economic activities in the area.

The MCE’s efforts to reshape the road provide temporary relief, but the need for permanent solutions remains pressing.
He indicated that with President Mahama’s intervention, the Abuakwa road project could be completed, benefiting the people of Atwima Nwabiagya South and beyond.
