The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso, Hon. Eric Asibey, has taken a proactive role in promoting environmental cleanliness and public health in the Municipality by leading a clean-up exercise in the municipality for the fourth time since assuming office for just four months.

This initiative aligns with the National Sanitation Day programme, aimed at tackling Ghana’s sanitation challenges through a legally backed initiative.

Through a monthly clean-up exercise initiative by Hon. Asibey, residents, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, and other stakeholders joined hands to sweep streets, clean choked gutters, and collect waste in key areas of the municipality.

The clean-up exercise is expected to improve the overall sanitation situation, reducing the risk of disease outbreaks and promoting a healthier environment for residents.

The MCE’s industry-leading efforts demonstrate a commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health.

“Regular clean-up exercises help prevent the spread of diseases, such as cholera, which have affected some parts of the country,” he stated.

He reiterated by stating that the programme encourages citizens to take ownership of their environment and participate in maintaining cleanliness.

The initiative brings together stakeholders, including corporate bodies, media, community-based organizations, traditional councils, and faith-based organizations, to support the programme and promote community participation.

The Kwadaso MCE’s leadership in the National Sanitation Day clean-up exercise demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to promoting environmental cleanliness and public health.

He indicated that by working together, residents and authorities can create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for all.

However, Hon. Eric Asibey sounded a word of caution to residents who refuse to take part in such exercises, urging them to restrain from such attitudes or face legal actions.

On his part, Hon. Dennis Afrane, assembly member for Asuoyeboah South, commended the MCE for his leadership qualities, but continued to entreate residents to take charge of such initiatives.
