Improve Teacher Welfare to Ensure Better Future for Next Generation – Nana Adu Gyamfi to Government

Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanini Barima Kese, the Nkosuohene of Nyankyerenease Traditional Council in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region and Chief Executive Officer CEO of Shamor Group of Companies, has called on the government to prioritize the welfare of teachers, describing it as a critical investment in the future of the nation and the next generation of leaders.

He made the call during the Afigya Kwabre South District Teachers’ Awards Programme, held to honor hardworking and dedicated teachers who have contributed immensely to education delivery in the district.

Speaking at the event, Nana Adu Gyamfi stressed that teachers remain the backbone of national development, yet their sacrifices often go unrecognized. According to him, improving teachers’ working conditions, remuneration, and access to professional development will not only motivate them but also enhance the quality of education across the country.

“If we truly desire a better future for our children and the nation at large, then we must begin by taking good care of those who shape young minds. Teacher welfare should not be treated as an afterthought,” he stated.

He noted that challenges such as inadequate incentives, delayed promotions, limited accommodation, and lack of teaching and learning materials continue to affect teacher morale, especially at the basic level. Nana Adu Gyamfi urged the government to address these concerns with urgency, adding that motivated teachers are more likely to deliver quality education and nurture responsible citizens.

The Afigya Kwabre South District Teachers’ Awards Programme was organized to recognize excellence, dedication, and innovation among teachers in the district. Several teachers were awarded for outstanding performance, years of service, and commitment to duty.

Nana Adu Gyamfi commended the district education authorities and organizers of the event for celebrating teachers, describing such initiatives as a positive step toward restoring dignity and pride in the teaching profession.

He encouraged teachers to remain dedicated despite the challenges, assuring them that their contributions to national development do not go unnoticed. He further appealed to stakeholders, including traditional authorities, local assemblies, and the private sector, to support efforts aimed at improving teacher welfare and education outcomes in the district.

The event brought together education officials, traditional leaders, teachers, and community members, all united in recognizing the vital role teachers play in shaping Ghana’s future.
