“Ghanaian Teachers Deserve Better” – Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanini

An Education advocate and community leader Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanini Barima Kese, has reiterated the urgent need for improved welfare and recognition for Ghanaian teachers, stressing that the nation’s progress depends on the wellbeing of those who nurture the next generation.

Speaking at the Afigya Kwabre South Teachers Awards today, December 12,2025, Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanini who was the chairman for the occasion praised educators for their resilience, dedication, and sacrifices despite persistent challenges within the profession. He noted that teachers continue to hold the education system together even as they struggle with inadequate resources, heavy workloads, and limited incentives.

According to him, Ghana’s development goals will remain out of reach if teachers who he described as “the backbone of national transformation” are not given the respect and support they deserve. He emphasized the need for government, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders to prioritize the welfare of teachers.

“Teachers shape the future of our children and our country. They deserve better conditions, better motivation, and better appreciation,” he said, calling for enhanced remuneration, access to modern teaching tools, and improved professional development opportunities.

The event, which celebrated outstanding teachers across the district, highlighted the crucial role educators play in community growth. Several teachers were honoured for excellence in service, innovation in teaching, and contributions to school development.

Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanini, Nyankyerenease Nkosuohene and CEO of Shamor Group of Companies encouraged award winners to continue striving for excellence and urged all teachers to remain committed to shaping responsible and capable future leaders. He further appealed to policymakers to listen carefully to the concerns of teachers and take meaningful action.

The Afigya Kwabre South Teachers Awards concluded with renewed calls from participants for improved investment in education and teacher welfare.
