Hundreds of commuters traveling to Sofoline, Santasi, Sokoban, Kotei, Tech, Ampabame and other adjoining communities were stranded on Tuesday evening, February 10, 2026, following an apparent shortage of commercial buses.
The situation unfolded during the peak evening hours, when workers, students and traders were returning home. Long queues formed at major loading points, particularly around the High School area, as passengers waited for buses that failed to arrive.
Many commuters expressed frustration after standing for hours without securing transport, while others were forced to walk long distances or rely on expensive alternative means of transport. The shortage caused significant delays and inconvenience, with some passengers abandoning their journeys altogether.
“I have been here for more than an hour, and no bus has come,” a stranded commuter said.
“This is becoming too frequent, especially in the evenings.”
Passengers described scenes of congestion and confusion, with occasional buses quickly overcrowded upon arrival. Some commuters raised concerns about safety, especially for women and children who were left waiting late into the night.
Affected passengers are appealing to transport authorities and relevant stakeholders to urgently address the situation and ensure the availability of buses during peak periods, particularly in the evenings when demand is high.
As of the time of filing this report, drivers and transport operators had not yet commented on the cause of the shortage.
