Mankpanwura Announces Special Scholarship for Medicine, Pilot and Oil & Gas Students

The Mankpanwura, Jakpa Achor Ade Borenyi I, has announced a special scholarship package for sons and daughters of the Mankpan Traditional Area who wish to pursue programmes in Medicine, Aviation/Pilot Training and Oil and Gas-related fields.

He made the announcement when he delivered his address at the Mankpan Damba 2026 Festival, held at Mankpan-Mpaha Junction in the Savannah Region on Saturday, 12th September 2026.

The festival, which was held to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), was celebrated under the theme: “Sustaining Unity, Securing Development through Tradition.”

According to the Mankpanwura, the scholarship forms part of his vision to make STEM education a major development project in the traditional area and support the training of professionals who can contribute to the development of the community and Ghana as a whole.

He said the initiative is expected to help produce more engineers, medical doctors, teachers, agronomists and researchers from the Mankpan Traditional Area.

Education Foundation

The Mankpanwura further disclosed that the Mankpanwura Educational Foundation (MEF) is anchored on the philosophy of former South African President Nelson Mandela, who described education as a powerful tool for transforming society.

He expressed his commitment to using education as a pathway to empower the youth and create opportunities for future generations.

Call for Peace and Unity

On peace and development, the Mankpanwura called on the chieftaincy institution, political leaders, youth associations and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to work together to promote lasting peace and unity.

He noted that peace is essential for attracting development, investment and other opportunities to the Mankpan Traditional Area.

Damongowura Commends Initiative

Speaking through his representative at the durbar, Damongowura Seidu Kelly Boresa I said he was pleased to have been invited to the celebration and accepted the invitation in good faith.

He expressed his full support and blessings for the Mankpan Damba Festival and the initiatives announced by the Mankpanwura.

The festival was graced by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition and Member of Parliament for Yapei/Kusawgu, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, who served as the Special Guest of Honour.

Damongowura Seidu Kelly Boresa I served as Chairman of the occasion.
