Bole Traditional Area enstools new chief, Tingawura Saaka Abdul Fatawu Jaaga

The Tinga Traditional Area in the Bole District of the Savannah Region has welcomed a new traditional ruler, Tingawura Saaka Abdul Fatawu Jaaga, from the Jaagape Clan, following his enskinment on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

The colourful ceremony, held at the Tinga Palace Grounds, attracted chiefs, elders, residents, youth and women, who gathered under the theme, “Welcome Home, Our Royal Father Has Arrived,” to celebrate and officially welcome their new chief.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement as members of the community expressed their joy over the installation of their traditional leader.

Addressing the gathering, the Assembly Member for Tinga and organiser of the event, Hon. Dramani Alhassan Kennedy, expressed gratitude to the people for their support and described the occasion as a historic moment for the community.

He said the entire Tinga community was delighted to welcome its royal father and called for unity and support for the new traditional ruler.

The coronation ceremony was organised by Hon. Dramani Alhassan Kennedy in collaboration with the people of Tinga.

The event was graced by Mankpanwura Jakpa Acho-Ade Borenyi I, Paramount Chief of the Mankpan Traditional Area and Member of the Council of State, who represented the Chairman and members of the Council of State.

In his address, Mankpanwura Jakpa Acho-Ade Borenyi I emphasised the complementary relationship between traditional authority and Ghana’s democratic governance system.

He noted that chieftaincy and the modern democratic state were not rivals but complementary institutions working towards a common goal of promoting peace, unity and national development.

He urged the newly enskinned Tingawura to lead with justice, humility and foresight, stressing the need for him to become a unifying figure rather than a source of division within the community.

Speaking on behalf of the new chief, Hon. Sarfo Sandari outlined Tingawura Saaka Abdul Fatawu Jaaga’s vision and priorities for the development of the Tinga Traditional Area.

He said the new chief envisioned a community that placed strong emphasis on healthcare, social welfare and human development, drawing inspiration from his professional background in healthcare and education.

He further stressed the importance of preserving Tinga’s cultural identity, customs and traditional heritage while pursuing development.

According to Hon. Sarfo Sandari, the new chief believes that the true measure of traditional leadership goes beyond the position one occupies but lies in the positive impact made on the lives of the people.

He said the vision of Tingawura Saaka Abdul Fatawu Jaaga was to build a Tinga that was peaceful in relationships, united in purpose, empowered in its people, proud of its heritage and progressive in outlook.

He also underscored the need for humility, peaceful coexistence and collective collaboration among chiefs, elders, the youth, women and other members of the community to achieve the development aspirations of Tinga.

As part of the traditional proceedings, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso I, at his palace, conferred blessings and traditional authority on the new chief, declaring that the entire Tinga Traditional Area now fell under his leadership.

In his remarks, the Bolewura used traditional expressions to emphasise the authority and responsibilities entrusted to the newly enskinned chief.

He stated that everything within Tinga, including its people and resources, was now under the authority of Tingawura Saaka Abdul Fatawu Jaaga, adding that even customary entitlements associated with hunting and the killing of animals, such as the thigh of a buffalo, elephant or cow, belonged to the chief.

He further urged the new traditional ruler to settle in Tinga and assume his responsibilities, assuring him of the traditional authority conferred on him for the rest of his life.

The enskinment of Tingawura Saaka Abdul Fatawu Jaaga marks a new chapter in the traditional leadership of the Tinga community, with residents hopeful that his reign will usher in peace, unity, cultural preservation and sustainable development.
