Gungunsowura Jingbele I Outdoored as Sub-Chief of Buipe Traditional Area

The Buipe Traditional Area in Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region has witnessed the outdooring and coronation of Gungunsowura Iddisah Mahama Jingbele I as a Sub-Chief under the Buipe Traditional Council.

The colourful ceremony, held at the Jinapor Palace in Buipe, was presided over by the President of the Buipe Traditional Council, *His Royal Majesty Buipewura Jinapor II, and attended by chiefs, kingmakers, elders, religious leaders, security services, youth groups, and sons and daughters of Buipe from home and abroad.

A Son of the Gbenfuwura

Gungunsowura Jingbele I, a proud son of the great Gbeadese Clan, is the son of the late Gbemasewura Iddisah, grandson of Buipewura Moshe Gbeadese, great-grandson of Shilmanwura Abudu, and great-great-grandson of Buipewura Konkronfi.

He was previously enskinned as Danyanpewura Jingbele I and has now risen as the fourth Gungunsowura from the Gbeadese Gate.

In the palace grounds, the palace linguist was seen performing the traditional rites, invoking his lineage and presenting him to the Buipewura, while the oath sword was held before him as a symbol of responsibility.

In his acceptance speech, the newly enskinned chief pledged unflinching loyalty to Buipewura Jinapor II

Your Majesty, I assure you, as

your Gungunsowura, that you will not walk this journey alone. Where you need my voice, I will speak. Where you

need my strength, I will serve. Where you need bridges built, I will build them, Gungunsowura Jingbele I declared.

He described the Buipewura as a distinguished traditional statesman whose service has brought recognition to Buipe and whose support for students, the needy, security services and institutions has touched many lives.

Gungunsowura Jingbele I called for an end to divisions in Buipe, saying the strength of the traditional area must come from respect for the Buipewura, sub-chiefs, kingmakers and youth.

A broom made from one

stick cannot sweep a compound. It is the many

sticks tied together that

make sweeping possible. We

may have different branches,

but our roots are one, he said.

He appealed to chiefs and youth to support the development agenda of Buipewura Jinapor II, asking, Why should we fight the hand that is trying to lift us?

The new chief expressed concern over youth challenges including substance abuse, indiscipline, unemployment and poor academic performance. He called on imams, pastors, teachers, parents and security agencies to work together to guide the youth.

You are not a problem to be

solved you are an asset to be

developed. Your energy should build Buipe, not burn Buipe,” he told the youth.

He also announced plans to support the organisation of a Buipe Homecoming to mobilize professionals, business people and diaspora sons and daughters to invest in education, healthcare and entrepreneurship in Buipe.

The ceremony ended with prayers for peace, unity and prosperity for Buipe, the Gonja Kingdom and Ghana.
