
The residents of Anou Community in the Offinso South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the local chiefs (Nananom) and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for their efforts in disposing of over 50 years’ worth of refuse in the community.
This long-standing challenge had posed significant health risks to residents, but thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Nananom and MCE, the community is now a cleaner and healthier
The initiative, led by Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanin Barimah Kese, Nyankyerenease Nkosuohene and CEO of Shamor Herbal Center, utilized DRIP machines provided by Hon. Owusu Amoah Frank, the MCE of the municipality, popularly known as “Abodie”. The machines played a crucial role in executing the cleanup job.

The residents highlighted that the removal of the refuse dump will significantly reduce the risk of diseases and improve overall health and well-being in the community.
The cleanup effort will also enhance environmental conditions, making the area a more pleasant place for citizens, especially the basic school and nearby households.
“We are grateful to the leadership for their initiative, which we believe will improve our living conditions,” the residents stated.

Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanin Barimah Kese emphasized that national development is a collective responsibility, requiring the support of all stakeholders.
He reiterated his recent donations, including 80 tricycles to 80 youth in the Afigya Kwabre South Municipality and GHS 20,000 to the Apagya-Akrofruom electoral area for gutter construction. “My top priority and joy are the well-being of humans, both financially and in health,” he added.

The successful cleanup effort is a testament to the power of community collaboration and leadership. It serves as a model for other communities to address similar challenges and work towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment.
