
The Secretary of Tabital Pulaaku, Alhaji Yakubu Musa Barry, has called on the newly enskinned Savannah regional Fulani chief to work with stakeholders to implement land zoning policies to prevent farmer-herder conflicts in the Savannah region.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Fulbe Chief for the Savannah Region, Alhaji Yakubu Musa Barry emphasized the need for clear policies to demarcate land zones for grazing and farming to bring lasting peace to the area.

The Fulbe people have been an integral part of the Savannah region’s economy, engaging in farming and cattle rearing for decades.
The designation of a regional chief for the Fulbe community aims to promote peace, unity, and cooperation between the Fulbe and Gonja communities.
The newly appointed chief, Alhaji Yakubu Musa Barry, was urged to collaborate with municipal and district assemblies to establish clear policies and guidelines for land use.
Alhaji Yakubu Musa Barry highlighted the importance of land zoning in preventing conflicts between farmers and herders.
He assured the people of Gonjaland that the Fulanis have no intention of taking over their properties but rather want to settle and pursue their activities peacefully.
The National Organizer for Tabital Pulaaku, Ahmed Barry, also refuted claims that the Fulanis would take over lands in the Savannah region, emphasizing the need for peaceful coexistence.
The Yagbonwura Bi-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, King and Overlord of the Gonjaland Traditional Council, designated the Yagbon chief imam to eskin a regional Fulbe chief to coordinate activities between the Fulanis and the traditional council. This move aims to foster unity and cooperation between the two communities and promote peaceful resolution of conflicts.
The secretary believes that by implementing land zoning policies and promoting dialogue between farmers and herders, the Savannah region can work towards a more peaceful and prosperous future.
