Ghana’s Education System: Let’s Focus More on Skill-Oriented Approach – Jachie Amoateng Dwantoahene

Otumfuo Kyeame Panin (Jachie Amoateng) Dwantoahene, Nana Asenso Dapaah, has called for a shift in Ghana’s education system from rote learning to skill-oriented approach.

According to him, the current system heavily rely on rote learning, saying that it does not equip students with the necessary skills to excel in the job market.

Nana Asenso believes that the skill-oriented approach will equip students with the necessary skills to impact the country directly right after school.

The chief who doubles as an educationist indicated that the skill-oriented approach can significantly lower unemployment rates and establish a robust economy by driving local entrepreneurship and promoting domestic industrialization.

He stated that by adopting a skill-oriented approach, Ghana can transform its education system, empowering students to become more competitive in the global market and contribute to the country’s economy growth and development.

He further noted that Ghana can foster a generation of skilled, self-reliant individuals prepared to meet local and global economic demand by focusing on skill development.

Speaking at the 2nd edition of the Basic School Assessment Contest organized by Perfect Star Media Production in collaboration with Perfect Grade Publications and Stationery, he highlighted the significant role the competition is playing in Ghana’s education.

He lauded organizers of the competition led by Pastor Philip Sarpong, CEO of Perfect Star Media Production and producer of Perfect Series Books.

Nana Asenso Dapaah called on authorities of Ghana Education Service (GES) to support the contest with the necessary materials to enhance sustainability of the competition.

He suggested to GES to adopt the program and make it a national one to invite more schools, highlighting on it’s impact on facilitators and learners.

The 2nd edition of the B.S.A.C. has been scheduled to take place at the GNAT HALL Amakom, Kumasi with 17 participating schools battling for the ultimate prize.
