
The Offinso Traditional Council, under the leadership of Paramount Chief Nana Dwamena Akenten II, has released over 600 bags of fertilizers to the Offinso North and South Municipal Assemblies.
The fertilizers were seized by the council after a violent clash between NDC and NPP supporters in Akomadan on December 30, 2024, which resulted in one fatality.
The clash occurred when NDC supporters demanded that NPP executives hand over the fertilizers for distribution, which was expected to boost agriculture in the two municipalities.
The situation escalated into violence, prompting the Offinso Traditional Council to intervene and seize the fertilizers.
The traditional council decided to hand over the fertilizers to the Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) for fair distribution to farmers.Nana Dwamena Akenten II officially handed over the fertilizers to both assemblies during a meeting.

Hon. Frank Owusu Amoah, MCE for Offinso South, thanked the traditional council for their intervention and assured that the fertilizers would be distributed fairly to the farmers.
According to Alhaji Abdul Majeed, the municipal coordinating director of the Offinso South Municipality, the fertilizers in question were offered to the municipality by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to support farmers in their crop production.

He expressed regret over the unfortunate incident that had occurred, which had delayed the distribution of the fertilizers to farmers.
The release of the fertilizers is expected to boost agriculture in the two municipalities, benefiting farmers and improving food security.
The Offinso Traditional Council’s intervention has helped to resolve the conflict and ensure that the fertilizers are distributed fairly and efficiently.
