The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosomtwe Constituency in theAshanti Region, Hon. Engr. Abdullah Hamidu, has denied allegations of breaking into the financial office of the assembly, sensing potential sabotage.
In response to a circulating story on the internet claiming he broke into the office to take some cash and cheques, Hon. Hamidu stated that these allegations are false.
According to Hon. Hamidu, the assembly needed money to pay allowances to assembly members, but the financial officer was uncooperative and displayed a lackadaisical attitude.
He indicated that the officer is trying to tarnish his image and sabotage his work. “I’ve begged him to help me carry out my duties, but all he does is sabotage my work through his actions,” the DCE stated.
Hon. Hamidu revealed that he requested the presence of the police, the officer’s assistants, and other staff members before breaking the door to the office.
This was done to prevent a pending demonstration by assembly members who were owed allowances. The action was carried out under camera surveillance and with police presence.
Hon. Hamidu emphasized that there is no truth to the news circulating on the internet and pleaded with the public to disregard the false allegations.
“There’s no truth in the news circulating on the internet, and I want people to quash the news,” he said.
