Duase M/A Basic School Appeals for Support as Alumni Association is Launched

The Headmistress of Duase M/A Basic School, Mrs. Dorcas Owusu Aboraa, has made a passionate appeal to old students, traditional authorities, and key stakeholders to support urgent developmental needs of the school.

Her call came during the official launch of the school’s Alumni Association, an initiative led by the 1997 year group to reconnect past students and mobilize resources for the advancement of the institution.

Addressing participants at the event, Mrs. Aboraa highlighted several critical infrastructural challenges confronting the school. She revealed that the school currently lacks a dedicated Kindergarten (KG) block, forcing young learners to study under less-than-ideal conditions. In addition, she noted the absence of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory, a gap that continues to hinder efforts to equip pupils with essential digital skills in an increasingly technology-driven world.

The Headmistress also pointed to the deteriorating condition of the school’s old classroom block, stressing the urgent need for rehabilitation to create a safer and more conducive teaching and learning environment.

She therefore called on all stakeholders particularly alumni, community leaders, and development partners to come together and support the school in addressing these pressing challenges.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Alumni Association, Mr. Opoku Afriyie Gabriel, emphasized that the formation of the association is a strategic step towards supporting the school’s development agenda. He underscored the importance of unity among past students, noting that a collective effort would significantly contribute to improving infrastructure and overall academic standards.

Mr. Gabriel further urged members of other year groups to join the association and actively participate in initiatives aimed at transforming the school.

Also addressing the gathering, the Vice Chairman of the association, Mr. Frank Owusu, reassured prospective members that registration into the association is free of charge. He encouraged all former students to take advantage of the opportunity to reconnect and contribute meaningfully to the growth of their alma mater.

The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including old students, school authorities, and community members, all united by a shared commitment to the development and future success of Duase M/A Basic School.
