
The Sawua Hemaa (Queen Mother) Nana Akosua Abrafi Afisaa II, has made a passionate appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to prioritize the effectiveness of the Sawua Hospital to prevent maternal mortality in the community.
The Sawua Hemaa’s plea underscores the alarming rate of maternal deaths in the community, often due to preventable causes when attended to on time.

The Queen Mother’s call emphasizes the need for the Sawua Hospital which is well equipped to be fully functional and to provide quality healthcare services.
“The effectiveness of the hospital has a direct impact on the health and well-being of the community and Ghana as a whole, particularly pregnant women and new mothers,” she stated.
The Sawua Hospital which is well equipped and could release pressure from the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has been left under the mercy of pests and rains, after some roofs have been taken off by wind.
Speaking to OTEC news (Sarkodie Samuel), the Queen Mother indicated that the government must prioritize the hospital’s effectiveness to bring relief to the people of the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole, especially residents of Sawua in order to save pregnant women from maternal deaths and improve healthcare outcomes.
This plea highlights the importance of community engagement and advocacy in promoting healthcare services.
The Queen Mother’s statement emphasizes the urgent need for action to address the critical healthcare needs of the community.
She believes that by prioritizing the Sawua Regional Hospital’s effectiveness, the government can help reduce maternal mortality rates and improve healthcare outcomes for the community.
