The Queen Mother (Ohemaa) of Nyankyerenease traditional council in the Kwadaso Municipality, Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa II, has taken a proactive step to promote cleanliness in communities during the Asantehene’s funeral.
Nana Adutwumwaa stated that as the Asante kingdom prepares for the funeral of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, it is important to ensure cleanliness in our communities.
The queen mother made this call when she joined a clean-up exercise Hon. Eric Asibey, the municipal chief executive for Kwadaso organized for three electoral areas including Nyankyerenease electoral area.
The exercise which took place on Saturday, September 6,2025, is the maiden edition of the monthly clean-up exercise initiative of the Kwadaso MCE.
The initiative aims to promote sanitation and reduce the risk of disease outbreaks in communities.
Nana Adutwumwaa engaged with residents, urging them to take ownership of their environment and maintain cleanliness as a way of showing respect for the Asantehene’s legacy.
She emphasized that maintaining cleanliness is seen as a way of showing respect for traditional leaders and cultural heritage, adding that cleanliness fosters community pride.
Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa II stressed that a clean environment contributes to better health and well-being of residents.
She further commended Hon. Eric Asibey for the clean-up exercise initiative which she believes will enhance sanitation and improve quality healthcare of residents.
She noted that the initiative reflects the cultural significance of cleanliness and community engagement in traditional Ghanaian society.
Hon. Eric Asibey, the municipal chief executive (MCE) for Kwadaso municipality expressed appreciation to Nyankyerenease Hemaa for her support and dedication to the development of the community and Kwadaso as a whole.
